In 1983 the Marriage Amendment law
was changed in the Cayman Islands allowing the governor
to grant a special license making it now a simple process
for visitors to be able to marry whilst on their vacation.
Provisions may now be performed as soon as an application
has been processed under the special license. Persons
wishing to obtain a special license must complete an
application to the Deputy Chief Secretary at the Government
Administration Building in George Town. The application
must be signed by both parties involved giving their
full names, occupations, permanent address and any current
temporary address. It must also name the marriage officer
who is to perform the ceremony, state whether either
party has been previously married, and confirm that
there is no impediment of kindred alliance or other
lawful hindrance to the intended marriage.
